This response is directed at Steve.

Firstly, the gay issue is completely overdone. It has gone far beyond seeking "equal" rights and is moving into the realm of seeking "more" rights.

Secondly, I think the whole concept of "marriage" as a legal entity should be abolished. Marriage is a religious institution. I want a separation of state from church. I want no laws that govern the free practice of religion in my government. That include the pushing and shoving of gay marriage down the throats of religious groups who aren't interested in endorsing it.

Legally, all unions should be "civil unions". If--after the fact--a couple chooses to have a religion endorse their union as a "marriage"--then that's their right.

However, to make this a "gay issue" is incredibly small minded and (ultimately) seeking "special attention" to being gay. Any human should be able to have a civil union with any other human, regardless of race, age or any other relationship.

If I want a civil union with my grandmother, so that I can get her included on my insurance at my office, I should be free to do so.

If my daughter wants a civil union with her (platonic) best friend so they can share a loan and insurance on a house they purchase and live in together, they should be free to do so.

If two gay men want to have a civil union, they should be free to do so.

The issue is MUCH larger than gay/lesbian and I find it offensive and non-Libertarian to consider it as ONLY a GLBT issue. At some point, the less than 4% of the population who are GLBT have to realize that the rest of the more than 96% don't need to have our rights infringed just because they're unable to see beyond their own bedrooms.

The truth is that Dondero, while working for Congressman Paul, showed
up high on blow at some Christian event and was fired for it. He now
bounces website to website to trash his former employer.

Your headline should have included: ANTI-GAY! Despite his vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment--on purely federalism grounds--Ron Paul has consistently opposed equal rights for lesbians and gay men, including equal marriage rights. No genuine libertarian would demand that government dictate whom lesbians and gay men may marry, but Ron Paul would. He'd just do it at the state level. As far as I'm concerned, he's no different than any of the other conservative Republicans who support anti-gay discrimination but who don't go so far as to support a federal constitutional amendment--e.g. John McCain. Just because he's not so bat-sh*t crazy as to support a federal amendment doesn't mean he's somehow pro-gay--or libertarian on gay issues. He's neither! He's for libertarianism only as government regulation burdens straight, white men--and that's just called being self-absorbed.

I need to know more about medicare and what he wants to do about healthcare in general, and the choice issue. But over all, he speaks from a place of compassion and intelligence that I haven't heard anywhere else.
I would love to see Rudy G's face when Paul wins the nomination.

Something about the Ron Paul campaign encourages tolerance among people. People are able to work together even when they have differences and would normally irritate each other. The common cause is creating a patience. No doubt the character of Ron Paul is an influence.
