It was 33 years ago, on Nov. 22, 1963, that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. While a traumatized nation grieved for its youngest president, he was succeeded by Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, who was to become the most pro-Israel president up to that time. A sea change was about to take place in America’s relations with Israel.
Johnson was quick to declare his support for the Jewish state. Shortly after being sworn in as president, Johnson reportedly remarked to an Israeli diplomat:
“You have lost a very great friend, but you have found a better one.” Commented Isaiah L. Kenen, one of the most effective lobbyists for Israel in Washington: “ I would say that everything he did as president supported that statement.” 1
Up to Johnson’s presidency, no administration had been as completely pro-Israel and anti-Arab as his. Harry S. Truman, while remembered as a warm friend of Israel, was more interested in his own election than Israel’s fate. After winning office on his own in 1948 with the support of the Jewish vote, he seemed to lose interest in the Jewish state.2
Dwight D. Eisenhower was distinctly cool toward Israel, seeing it as a major irritant in America’s relations with the Arab world and U.S. access to oil. There were no powerful partisans of Israel in his administration and his secretary of state, John Foster Dulles, was a frequent critic of Israel. Kennedy was considerably warmer toward the Jewish state and became the first president to begin providing major weapons to it, breaking an embargo in place since 1947.3 Yet he valued the U.S. position in the Arab world, particularly with Egypt’s Gamal Abdel Nasser, and as a result maintained a fairly even-handed policy despite having a number of pro-Israel officials in his administration.
All this changed dramatically under Johnson. Not only was he personally a strong supporter of the Jewish state but he had a number of high officials, advisers and friends who shared his view. These included officials within the administration such as McGeorge Bundy, Clark Clifford, Arthur Goldberg, Harry McPherson, John Roche, the Rostow brothers, Walt and Eugene, and Ben Wattenberg.
These officials occupied such high offices as the ambassador to the United Nations, the head of the National Security Council and the number two post at the State Department. They were assiduous in putting forward Israel’s interests in such memoranda as “What We Have Done for Israel” 4 and “New Things We Might Do in Israel” 5 and “How We Have Helped Israel.” 6
The president was repeatedly urged to distance America from the Arab world.
The president was repeatedly urged by Israel’s supporters to embrace Israeli policy, give the Jewish state increased aid, and distance America from the Arab world. So pervasive was the influence of Israel’s supporters during Johnson’s tenure that CIA Director Richard Helms believed there was no important U.S. secret affecting Israel that the Israeli government did not know about in this period.7
So closely allied were U.S. and Israeli interests in the mind of “Mac” Bundy, the special coordinator of Middle East policy during the 1967 war, that he once sought to buttress a recommendation to Johnson by remarking: “This is good LBJ doctrine and good Israeli doctrine, and therefore a good doctrine to get out in public.” 8 When initial war reports showed Israel making dramatic gains and several officials in the State Department Operations Room outwardly showed satisfaction, Undersecretary of State Gene Rostow turned to them with a broad smile on his face and said ironically: “Gentlemen, gentlemen, do not forget we are neutral in word, thought and deed.” 9 In the State Department’s summary of the start of the war, Rostow’s brother, Walt, the national security adviser, wrote on a covering letter to Johnson: “Herewith the account, with a map, of the first day’s turkey shoot.” 10
Beyond the administration’s supporters of Israel, one of Johnson’s closest informal advisers was Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas, another warm friend of Israel’s. Two of Johnson’s closest outside advisers were Abraham Feinberg and Arthur B. Krim, both strong supporters of Israel. Feinberg was president of the American Bank & Trust Company of New York and the man whose “activities started a process of systematic fund-raising for politics [in the late 1940s] that has made Jews the most conspicuous fund-raisers and contributors to the Democratic Party,” according to a study by Stephen D. Isaacs, Jews and American Politics. Johnson routinely consulted Feinberg on Middle East policy.
Vocal Supporters of Israel
Feinberg was a vocal supporter of increased aid to Israel. Although an American, Feinberg at various times owned the Coca-Cola franchise in Israel and was a part-owner of the Jerusalem Hilton Hotel. When his bank fell into trouble in the 1970s and two of its officers were convicted of misappropriating funds, the Israeli Bank Leumi Company, in a generous act of reverse aid, purchased Feinberg’s American Bank & Trust Company.11
Arthur Krim was president of United Artists Corporation of Hollywood, a New York attorney and another major Democratic fund-raiser. He served as chairman of the Democratic National Party Finance Committee and chairman of the President’s Club of New York, the most potent source of Johnson’s campaign funds. Krim was married to a physician, Mathilde, who in her youth had briefly served as an agent for the Irgun, the Jewish terrorist group led by Menachem Begin.
The Krims were so close to Johnson that they built a vacation house near his Texas ranch to be close to him on long weekends and were regular guests at the White House. Mathilde Krim stayed at the White House during much of the 1967 war and was a regular caller at the Israeli Embassy, passing reports and gossip back and forth. The Krims, like other Johnson friends, did not hesitate to advise the president on Middle East policy.12
How influential the Krims were in forming Johnson’s Middle East policy was hinted at by notes in the president’s daily diary for June 17, 1967. The notes reported that at a dinner with the Krims and others at Camp David, Johnson openly discussed a speech he was working on that was to establish the nation’s Middle East policy for the years ahead.
According to the notes, Johnson read from various drafts of the speech around the dinner table, “inserting additions and making changes, also accepting comments and suggestions from all at the table.” Thus two passionate partisans of Israel, the Krims, helped Johnson refine what was later called the “five great principles of peace,” the pillars of U.S. policy in the Middle East for the next two decades.
After Johnson delivered the speech on June 19, he received a report of an enthusiastic phone call from Abe Feinberg saying that the Jewish community was delighted with the speech. “Mr. Feinberg said he had visited with Israelis and Jewish leaders all over the country and they are high in their appreciation.” 13
Under Johnson, aid to Israel increased and the old arms embargo was completely shattered, portending the massive transfer of treasure, technology and weapons that began in the next administration of Richard M. Nixon. That, of course, was only the beginning of the age of total support of Israel, which has reached new heights under Bill Clinton.

We are occupied by Israel just as the Palestinians are, but in a different way: Through bribes and pressure on every member of our government. No person can be president without the approval of AIPAC–the Israeli lobby.( The organized Crime syndicate )
Israelis and their American servants are trying to pass laws that would make saying anything critical of Israel or the Jews anywhere in the world, a criminal offense. Hate crimes laws are the beginning, and there are actually those in our government trying to shut down our freedom of speech as it has been shut down in most of Europe. What will Americans do then?
This foreign lobby (AIPAC) and the espionage involved with Israel puts the national security of the United States, in the gravest jeopardy, yet our government officials continue to take the bribes, listen to their think tanks, and continue appointments of members to important positions.—— Israeli engineers have developed much of the American military’s cutting—edge weapons technology in recent years, that in itself makes no sense. AIPAC is discredited in the eyes of the American public as a nest of spies, but our officials ignore our concerns.

Put U.S. Interests–Not Israel’s–First
Dear Representatives:
For the first time in 60 yrs, would you
please do as you were elected to do.
Please put U.S. interests–not Israel’s–first when making difficult budget decisions.
While ordinary Americans struggle to find living-wage jobs, affordable housing, and quality
health care, and massive cuts in government programs are contemplated to scale back the out-of-control
U.S. deficit and debt, U.S. Foreign aid to Israel continues to rise.
President Obama’s FY2012 budget request is expected to include a record $3.1 billion in military aid to Israel.
Just this week, Obama has offered an additional 20 F-35 stealth fighter jets to Israel, increasing our 2010
military aid to Israel by another $3 billion.
Enough is enough. If we’re going to live within our means as a country, then we’ve got to prioritize funding
human needs, rather than Israel’s war machine, and genocide of its neighbors.
I am especially appalled that this increased level of military aid to Israel funds its human rights abuses against
innocent Palestinian civilians, encourages its construction of illegal settlements and entrenches its illegal 43-year
military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip.
I strongly urge you to help cut the deficit and debt by ending U.S. aid of any type to Israel.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is a fifth-term senator from Kentucky. He is the minority leader in the 111th Congress and sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee. He was included in CREW’s 2007, 2008 and 2009 reports on congressional corruption for exchanging earmarks for campaign contributions by clients of his former chief of staff.

John Boehner admits to giving bribes from Big Tobacco on the House floor :
Boehner came under fire for distributing campaign checks from tobacco interests to colleagues on the House floor.
Last year, Rep. Boehner supported legislation that would benefit banks that make student loans and increase payments for millions of students. Banks and other institutions that provide loans to students donated nearly $60,000 to Boehner and nearly $70,000 to his leadership PAC, the Freedom Project.
Boehner Likes to Travel on the Dime of Special Interests:
A group of Washington lobbyists led by Richard Kessler under the umbrella of the Ripon Educational Fund and the Ripon Society has spent millions of dollars taking lawmakers to European capitals and U.S. resorts, thereby skirting congressional ethics rules that forbid registered lobbyists from paying for congressional travel. John Boehner took two trips costing a total of at least $13,920.
Boehner has Connections to the Abramoff Scandal:
John Boehner received $32,500 in political contributions from Indian tribes represented by fallen lobbyist Jack Abramoff, placing him in the top tier of lawmakers who got donations from the lobbyist or his clients.
Boehner and Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO) were the point men for former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) in communicating with corporate lobbyists. At one point, Boehner even convened a weekly meeting called the “Thursday Group” to huddle with K Street lobbyists.
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) is a twentieth-term member of Congress representing New York’s 15th district. Rep. Rangel was included in CREW’s 2008 and 2009 reports on congressional corruption. Rep. Rangel’s ethics issues stem from (1) improperly leasing four rent-controlled apartments; (2) improperly using congressional stationary; (3) failing to report rental income from a vacation property; and (4) trading legislative assistance for contributions to the Rangel Center at City College. Rep. Rangel is awaiting trial by the House ethics committee.
On Feb. 25, 2010, in a separate matter, the House ethics committee admonished Rep. Rangel for his acceptance of corporate-sponsored trips to the Caribbean.

US Government seizure of the internet has begun; DHS takes over 76 websites
Over 75 websites were seized and shut down last week, and there is no indication that the government will stop such efforts. Right now, their focus is websites that they claim “violate copyrights,” yet the torrent-finder.com website that was seized by DHS contained no copyrighted content whatsoever.
Clearly the politicians don’t get it. America should NOT be about corruption. Americans don’t LIKE the corruption of the Halliburton, Blackwater, AIPAC, Zionist congress. Americans are getting tired of the Greedy Old Parties. Why are politicians so soft on corruption? Why do they seem to favor their MOST corrupt members rather than force them into line?

Shahid Alam for uncovering this fascinating tidbit from Time magazine, 1952, announcing the selection of newly elected Iranian prime minister Mohammed Mossadegh as Person of the Year for 1951. This sobering analysis is striking because of the way in which it speaks from the perspective of Arabs. It’s exactly the kind of analysis we simply don’t see anymore in the MSM (mainstream media) here in the United States, thanks, in no small part, to the growth of the Israel lobby which obscures not just Israel’s responsibility, but even more damning, the United States’.
Here the Time magazine writer makes the case for why the Palestinian “problem” is the United States’ problem.
“The word “American” no longer has a good sound in that part of the world [the Middle East]. To catch the Jewish vote in the U.S., President Truman in 1946 demanded that the British admit 100,000 Jewish refugees to Palestine, in violation of British promises to the Arabs. Since then, the Arab nations surrounding Israel have regarded that state as a U.S. creation, and the U.S., therefore, as an enemy. The Israeli-Arab war created nearly a million Arab refugees, who have been huddled for three years in wretched camps. Arab fears that Ben Gurion’s real plans were to expand were not unfounded. In 1937, before he became Israel’s first Prime Minister, Ben Gurion wrote to his son:
“A partial Jewish state is not the end, but only the beginning. The establishment of such a Jewish State will serve as a means in our historical efforts to redeem the country in its entirety….We shall organize a modern defense force…and then I am certain that we will not be prevented from settling in other parts of the country, either by mutual agreement with our Arab neighbors or by some other means….We will expel the Arabs and take their places…with the force at our disposal.”
Of course, the US did much more to win the Arab and Persian world’s enmity than simply support the creation of the State of Israel. Mossadegh nationalized Iran’s valuable oil industry and paid the price with his freedom thanks to a US CIA sponsored coup which led to his imprisonment. He was later put under house arrest until his death in 1967. Iran, or more accurately, Iran’s citizens, have been paying the price ever since.

SENIORS REMEMBER THE PAST
We are occupied by Israel just as the Palestinians are, but in a different way: Through bribes and pressure on every member of our government. No person can be president without the approval of AIPAC–the Israeli lobby.( The organized Crime syndicate )
Israelis and their American servants are trying to pass laws that would make saying anything critical of Israel or the Jews anywhere in the world, a criminal offense. Hate crimes laws are the beginning, and there are actually those in our government trying to shut down our freedom of speech as it has been shut down in most of Europe. What will Americans do then?
This foreign lobby (AIPAC) and the espionage involved with Israel puts the national security of the United States, in the gravest jeopardy, yet our government officials continue to take the bribes, listen to their think tanks, and continue appointments of members to important positions.—— Israeli engineers have developed much of the American military’s cutting—edge weapons technology in recent years, that in itself makes no sense. AIPAC is discredited in the eyes of the American public as a nest of spies, but our officials ignore our concerns.

White House is ready to surrender
Instead of playing hardball with Republicans by exposing them for this reckless spending, they’re ready to cave again. Instead of exposing Republicans for voting against tax cuts for the middle class, instead of daring them to be responsible for raising taxes on all Americans if the Bush-Cheney tax cuts expire before Republicans agree to the Democratic plan, instead of providing America with real leadership and a fiscally responsible backbone that sets Democrats apart from Republicans — this White House is ready to surrender.
The U.S. Senate can stop them. Call your Senators right now and demand “no deals on tax cuts for the wealthy” right now.
If the Republicans are so committed to stopping tax cuts for the middle class unless tax breaks for millionaires are extended too, then they should have to defend that position in the next election.
The question to ask is whether their policies worked as promised. Have they even come close? Where is the prosperity…? China, India, Israel, or
just the off shore accounts.

While overall views of Israel have not moved substantially over the past year , there have been significant increases in negative views of the country among Americans (negatives rising from 31% to 41%) and Britons (from 50% to 66%).
The poll does not give reasons for why this shift has taken place, but this erosion of support for Israel is no doubt due to a combination of factors: Israel’s brutal massacre of Palestinians in Gaza in winter 2008-2009, the ongoing siege and the massacre aboard the Gaza Freedom Flotilla last May, as well as the general aura of extremism and intransigence conveyed by the country’s actions (continued settlement in the occupied West Bank, ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem, racist laws against Palestinian citizens and so on).
