Roberts in the Persian Gulf." It tells the story of the Roberts, which escorted oil tankers as part of Operation Earnest Will until 14 April 1988, when it hit and was nearly sunk by an Iranian mine. Four days later, the U.S. retaliated, sinking two Iranian warships in the biggest surface-warfare battle since World War II.
